Victory Day- May 9, is one of the greatest holidays for Russians all over the world. The holiday celebrates the great victory of 1945, and honors the memory of the heroes who gave their lives for Russia (and for other countries as well).
On Victory Day, the President of Russia sends congratulatory letters to all the veterans. Parades, feasts, presents and flowers are handed out, together with much gratitude to the people who fought for the defense of Russia. It is a day of joy and celebration all over Russia.
