Ashdod
Ashdod, one of the largest port-towns of Israel, was founded in 1956 (turning into a formal city in 1968). Today the city is home to some 211,000 inhabitants. Being located on the shores of the Mediterranean coast, Ashdod had evolved into the largest port in terms of cargo-ships and in terms of volume of cargo-handling. Bet Sh’ean Ruins - a National Park
Bet She'an ruins lie in the northern part of the Jordan Valley of Israel. Following archeological digs of the area, it appears as if first settlement had been established in the 5th millennium NCE, in the area. The region had been blessed with much water and fertile soil, thus turning into a major crossroad.This site had also been mentioned in the bible, while Israelite tribes were unable to capture Canaanite Bet She'an. Dead Sea
The Dead Sea is a world-famous lake of salt, located at the south-eastern part of Israel, near its border with Jordan. The lake is situated exactly 420m (1,385 ft) below sea level, which makes it the lowest location on Earth. The Dead Sea is some 380m (1,240 ft) deep; it is also the saltiest body of water in the world, with nearly 40% salinity. This unique salinity makes it nearly impossible for animals to flourish, hence its name. However, that same salt provides proven relief to the many ailing visitors who come, on a regular basis, to enjoy its healing properties.
